Hey, guys! New here, and new to PSP7 :) I'm no graphics design person by any means, it's just a lot of fun for me to play with pictures and see what I can do. However, I'm pretty much dead beginner, but I'm wanting to learn.
More than anything else right now, I just kind of need an introduction to layers. I understand they're like taking a transparent sheet of paper and putting it over an original picture, but that's all I've got. Anyone got a way of just kind of giving me a run-down on layers, maybe a small and basic PSP7 exercise to get used to how they work? Not all of them, just kind of so I can get an understanding.

This was originally posted by kevinr way back in 2003, and since it's a trick I still use, I thought I'd post the information again. If there are decorative fonts, or other fonts, that you only use from time to time, they don't need to be 'installed' in order to use them in PSP7. I keep my downloaded fonts in their own folder (C:/fonts, imagine that! *g*). 1. Unzip the new font file into that folder. 2. When you want use your new font, simply open your font folder, then double-click on the font file to open it. You should see a nifty preview of the font. 3. Minimize your font folder, but don't close the preview. 4. That font will now show up in PSP7's list of fonts that are available to use. Voila!

I'm not sure if this qualifies as a suitable question, but I've found that my copy of Paintshop Pro crashes when I try to use any downloaded fonts.
I'm running on Windows XP, but I never had this problem when I was running on '98. I can't even find anything online that might help.
The files aren't bugged, and I've reinstalled the program twice to try to fix any missing files or whatnot, but that hasn't helped. Also, when I installed the fonts, they went in properly and without problem. I can use them in any other program, even PSP9.
Mods, if this is not what the community is here for, go right ahead and delete this. I tried, right?
Community members, if you have any wisdom or tips, please help. This is very frustrating, as I can't use my favorite font in my favorite program.
Thanks so much in advance.

Quick question. I have PSP7 on my old computer which runs Windows XP. We recently got a new computer and I was wondering if PSP7 is okay to use on Windows Vista, and if so, is there a way I can transfer PSP7 from my old computer to the new computer. I don't have the CD anymore.
Also, if not. Does anyone know where I can find a trial version of PSP7 until I can buy another copy. I tried all the websites I knew to try but none of them had it.

I've read the memories but I couldn't find anything that focused only on applying brushes. I want to use this brush: and apply it to this image to make an icon: I get confused with the all the layers, and don't really know the difference between raster/vector/adjustment. I'm familiar with the layers menu, but just don't know anything beyond that. If someone can give me a step by step on how to do this that'd be great!

How do I achieve this effect?? How do I make the background black and white and the main image to stay the same colour?? thank you :)

Help, please? I'm having problems with my PSP 7 Layers Palette. On the palette, it is not showing me the section that has the name of the layer (Layer 1, Layer 2, Layer 3, etc.) so...I can't do anything with it. Can't duplicate it, can't see which layer I'm working on, nothing. I've tried expanding the layer palette box to see if that's my problem, but all it does is stretch out what I *CAN* see. I tried restarting PSP 7, and even tried restarting my computer, but it's still the same. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I've included a screen cap of what I'm talking about, so you can see. ( I can't see the layer name )

I'm having a strange problem with my Paint Shop Pro 7 program. When I apply a text to a picture, it only shows the little 'ants' dancing and the text is transparent, not the color I selected. Then when I go to remove the text it comes out like a weird..cookie cutter effect? Heres a few examples of my problem under the cut. ( Examples )

If I'm not mistaken, PSP 7 brushes are JBR files?
I noticed that there is no JBR option in the drop-down menu when I hit 'save as'! Is it called something else in the drop-down menu, or do I need a different program to have JBR files?
Also, would anyone be able to point me in the direction of some people or some community that has very nice PSP 7 brushes?
Thank you! - Mood:annoyed

Hey Folks -
I have a question for you about the actual application.
My computer crashed in May, and since I had to buy a new one, I lost my PSP program. I downloaded the trial program and tried to download the crack to make it turn into the regular version, but to no avail. Now my trial is almost up, and I am almost without paintshop, and I will be very sad.
On Ebay, the program goes for a bit more money than I have to spend right now, but the newer versions are cheaper. So my question is, first of all, where I can get PSP7 at a cheaper price? Or, if I can't, what are the differences between, say, 7 and 8? - Mood:okay

I have Paint Shop Pro 7 and a lovely photograph that has a couple of small water spots on it where some droplets of water got on the picture. Unfortunately, these landed on the person's arm and the discoloration makes it look like she's scarred or has a skin disease. Is there any way to fix that? - Mood:curious

I know I found this once before but I can't see it in memories. I'm taking over a site for someone with a particular background in place already so any new images I add need to have a transparency on it so the background shows up. Can someone remind me how to save the image for the web like that?
thanks. | |

I just downloaded and installed a bunch of fonts from dafont.com. Most of them are working fine, but for a few of them, when I try to use them in PSP, the letters come up as a bunch of squares. Anyone know why that is? - Mood:cold

I have a pretty severe problem when I try to use the text tool. It used to work sometimes but now it shuts the whole program down as soon as I click the icon. It's gotten so bad that the only way I can have text on something is to write the text in Microsoft Paint then bring it into PSP as a brush
Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?? - Mood:frustrated
